3 QUICK WAYS ENTREPRENEURS CAN EARN MORE MONEY
Sometimes it can be hard to notice new opportunities in business, especially if you are a business owner. This is usually because of the close relationship that entrepreneurs have with their businesses. It’s almost like a parent and their children; it can be hard for them to make decisions dispassionately when they are dealing with their kids. This is the same for business people as well, let’s face it. We can all be overprotective and oversensitive when it comes to the slightest whiff of criticism towards our companies.
However, this can be a recipe for disaster if you aren’t able to be open to alternative points of view because you will miss out on many opportunities to scale your business. The goal of this article is to give you three methods to spot new opportunities, gather information and prototype your ideas before fully integrating them into your existing business.
1. Speak to people that have more business experience than you.
Business is by far the most difficult thing I have had to do in my life. You always feel like you never have all of the answers and that there is no end to the information you have to know in order to make constant progress. It takes my back to a time a number of months ago, when we were trying to productize our service and I had no I idea where to begin to start strategizing about our new direction.
What I decide to do was call my cousin who already had about fifteen years of business experience sand pick his brain.
This is one of my secret weapons because it allows me to do two things. The first thing is that I save a lot of time trying to research information that could take me several days to get. After a short conversation on FaceTime with my cousin, I usually am pointed in the right direction.
The second benefit to talking to a mentor is that they offer more seasoned and less emotionally filled advice because they are not as close to the business as you are. If you have someone around you that you deem to be useful in helping you find resolutions, seize the opportunity to do so.
2. Study other successful people.
Success usually leaves clues. There is no real need to reinvent the wheel. All you have to do is take what is already out there, improve upon it and add your own unique twist to it. Find people that are making real headway in your field and study what books they read, the conferences they attend, but most importantly the habits they have. You may not have the same access to the same business situations they have, but you can mirror their work ethic.
For example, a common thread of success that I have discovered in hard work. Most of the entrepreneurs that I admire work between 70-100 hours a week. I work seventy hours a week and I spend about another twelve hours working on my health by running and lifting weights. Find a role model in business and study their work habits.
3. Spend one hour a day learning something new in your field.
My third suggestion is for people who are highly motivated. If you can discipline yourself enough, you will be amazed at the results you will quickly achieve. By spending one hour a day reading something in your field, you will be reading about a book a week. If you continue this process, you would have read roughly fifty-two books in a year. That is equivalent to a PhD in any field, including physics.
I have found this method to work wonders for me. Since I started doing this, I have been able to learn so many new things that has helped us grow our business. For example, my goal several months ago, was to be one of the best salespeople in Europe. Therefore I spend at least an hour a day reading something on sales, listening to audio on marketing and watching instructional videos on YouTube.
If you begin to use this method now, I guarantee that you will accelerate your learning process and discover that you will be able to implement new ideas into your business that can take your company to the next level.
